We love making all kinds of cookies and every year we try to make something new and different, which means these eggnog cookies are on deck this year!
Of course, we always have the classics likes these chocolate crinkle cookies, ginger molasses cookies, and our family’s favorite grandma’s cream cookies!
HOW TO MAKE FROSTED EGGNOG COOKIES

Ingredients:
- Eggnog. The star ingredient. I realize there is only a little in the cookie dough and frosting but a little goes a long way!
- All-purpose flour and baking powder. The two ingredients that give you a nice puffy cookies.
- Butter, sugar, and egg yolk. The wet ingredients that really help bind these cookie together.
- Nutmeg. A dash of nutmeg compliments the flavor of the eggnog for just the right amount of spice and flavor!
- Buttercream Frosting. A traditional buttercream frosting that consist of butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Take it to the next level by adding eggnog and nutmeg!
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Line 2 large baking trays with parchment paper.
- Mix together the butter, 3/4 cup sugar, egg yolk, eggnog, and vanilla in a large bowl.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and nutmeg and stir to combine.
- Use a 1 1/2-tablespoon scoop to measure out the cookie dough. Roll the dough balls in the remaining 1/4 cup sugar to coat. Arrange the sugared dough balls on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake until the cookies are set along the outside and just a touch doughy in the center, about 15 minutes, rotating the trays once halfway through.
- Cool the cookies on the trays and then remove.
- For the frosting, mix together powdered sugar, butter and vanilla. Add 1 Tbsp of eggnog at a time, until it reaches your preferred texture.Â
- Spread a small amount of frosting on each cookie and sprinkle with nutmeg.
