Let’s face it, pizza is the ultimate crowd-pleaser. I am all for having pizza a few times a week but sometimes you just can’t spend time making homemade pizza dough? Making sliders is the next best thing! Although these homemade air fyer bagel bites bagel aren’t a bad option either!
Each bite is a burst of pizza perfection. The soft sweetness of the rolls balances the savory herbed filled sauce and two types of cheese, while the pepperoni adds that delightful salty crunch. It’s a symphony of textures and tastes in every mini masterpiece.
HOW TO MAKE PEPPERONI PIZZA SLIDERS
Ingredients:
- Buns: Use either Hawaiian slider rolls or any kind of slider bun. Dinner rolls work in a pinch!
- Tomato Sauce: This helps add a litter moister the the slider.
- Herbs: I go heavy with them by using the classic trio of oregano, basil and garlic powder.
- Pepperoni: The main flavor of our sliders!
- Cheese: We use three types of cheese in this recipe, which include mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese and parmesan cheese on the top.
- Butter: This is melted on top to give the buns a nice toasty finish.
- Seasonings for the butter: Garlic, parsley, onion powder and salt and pepper.
- Fresh parsley. This adds a little color but it totally options. We use this instead of poppyseeds.
Directions:
- Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat the oven to 350ยฐF.
- In a small bowl whisk together oregano, basil, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- Place unsalted butter in a small, microwave-safe bowl and microwave until melted, 20 to 30 seconds. (Alternatively, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.) Add garlic, onion powder, parsley and salt and pepper, and whisk to combine.
- Without separating the rolls, cut 1 package sweet dinner rolls in half horizontally with a serrated knife. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 9×13-inch or 7×11-inch baking dish.
- Evenly spread tomato sauce on the button layer of the buns.
- Evenly spread over the tomato sauce the mixture of oregano, basil and garlic powder.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Arrange pepperoni slices evenly on the rolls, overlapping the slices as needed to completely cover. Layer the remaining 8 slices of provolone cheese over the pepperoni. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
- Brush the butter onto the top of the rolls.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake until the sandwich is heated through and the cheese melts, about 20 minutes. Uncover and bake until the rolls are lightly browned, 7 to 8 minutes.
- Top with parmesan cheese and parsley.
- Transfer the slab to a cutting board, then cut into individual sliders with a serrated knife before serving.
