Normally when we are baking our Christmas treats for family and friends we stick to the classics like these peanut butter balls, turtle magic bars, or these ginger molasses cookies.
This year, I wanted to try to make something super simple and easy! These vanilla cookies have only 6 ingredients. The roll out really easily and you can put whatever sprinkles you want on the top of them!
HOW TO MAKE VANILLA CHRISTMAS COOKIES
Head on down to the recipe card for the full recipe!
Ingredients:
- Butter and sugar. Your cream the butter and sugar from 5 to 7 minutes to make it a nice creamy base for the cookies.
- Wet ingredients. This includes one egg and pure vanilla extract.
- Dry ingredients. Flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder make up the dry ingredients for the cookies. Slowly mix this in one at a time. Dough will be sticky!
- Sprinkles. I love the classic colors of red and green!
Directions:
- In mixing bowl add butter and sugar. Mix till fluffy, scraping down the sides of the bowl half way through (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add egg and extract. Continue to mix until incorporated.
- Slowly mix in dry ingredients by adding one at a time until the flour disappears and the dough is creamy. (it will be slightly sticky)
- Place in refrigerator for a minimum of 15 minutes up to 1 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out cookie dough balls and roll in between hands to get a nice ball. (might need to cover hands lightly in flour if itโs too sticky)
- Roll the tip in sprinkles and place on to prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, just until edges are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let them cool on a cookie rack.
NOTES & STORAGE:
NOTES: So about the sprinkles. I did try rolling the entire cookie in sprinkles and although it worked I just didnโt like how it looked for me, which is why Iโm just rolling only the tops in.
STORE: Store in an airtight container on the countertop for 5-7 days. Freeze in the freezer for up to 3 months.
