Have you seen those recipes for bottom of the jam jar vinaigrettes? Well this is pretty much like that! Although we tend to really scrape out all of the jam from any jar we have but this is such a great alternative for when you just don’t want to do that!
HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE
Ingredients:
- Strawberry jam: We always have strawberry jam in the house because that is what my hubby likes to eat! I try to use reduced sugar to cut the amount of sugars in the dressing.
- Balsamic vinegar: Typically I am buying the Aldi brand for balsamic vinegar but any good quality, made in Italy, preferably Modena balsamic vinegar will do.
- Extra-virgin olive oil: We keep this on stock and is such a pantry staple to have around!
- Sea salt: I prefer to use course and not fine sea salt. This comes in handy when making pasta as well.
- Black pepper: Add this based on your taste! We like a little touch of pepper in our vinaigrette.
Directions:
- Mix the jam, balsamic vinegar, extra-virgin olive oil, salt and pepper in a small jar or dressing container. Mix well and set aside.
- This literally takes just a few minutes!
VARIATIONS:
Fruit Jam: You can use any flavor fruit jam to mix this up a little. Apricot is a hit in our family when we make this grilled salmon salad with apricot dressing. Peach, blueberry, raspberry or even grape would be tasty!
Vinegar: Try adding champagne vinegar! It adds a nice floral, tangy flavor to the vinaigrette.
STORAGE:
Store in an air tight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
