Shrimp is definitely one of those items that I keep in my freezer when I am in need of something quick to cook for busy week night meals! What I love about this spicy garlic thyme shrimp is that you can make it as spicy as you want or you can leave the spice out! It’s really up to you!
When I want make this with rice I my make my instant pot basmati rice! This cooks in just about the same time I prep and make the shrimp! You can also make this shrimp for my shrimp ramen salad!
I also make garlic thyme shrimp and veggies and serve over rice for another quick and easy meal! I’m obsessed with it and so is the family!
How long do you cook shrimp?
Shrimp really doesn’t take very long to cook. Typically you can start to tell shrimp is done when it begins to look opaque white in color and the tails start to close. If they are fully closed then your shrimp is overcooked, so watch out for that!
HOW TO MAKE SPICY GARLIC THYME SHRIMP!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 half pounds large raw shrimp, cleaned and washed, tails removed
- 5 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt for taste (about 1 teaspoon)
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
DIRECTIONS:
- In medium bowl add shrimp.
- Next add the chopped garlic.
- Then the fresh chopped thyme.
- Add in your salt.
- Lastly add in your cayenne pepper.
- Stir together until completely incorporated.
- Add olive oil to sauté pan. Then add shrimp.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip and cook another 3-4 minutes or until shrimp starts to look opaque.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately! ENJOY!
