Is it me or am I the only one who forgets to make croutons? My family loves them for salads! We try to eat one every single day and sometimes we go all out by adding croutons, dried fruit and sunflower seeds on it! Just to give it a little extra something!
With just 5 ingredients, you can’t go wrong with making air fryer croutons! While the recipe calls for french or Italian loaf, you really can use any bread you have on hand! I know most recipe recommend you using day old bread, but you can also use fresh bread. Day old bread does produce better results, but making them in the air fryer stills gives you that crunchy texture you are looking for in a crouton!
A few salads I would recommend putting these air fryer croutons on would be this grilled pork loin salad with grilled apples, grilled salmon salad with apricot dressing or this zucchini carpaccio salad! All equally delicious!
HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER CROUTONS!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread, about 12 oz. (not a baguette, not crusty)
- 3/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
TIP! No need to add salt! The saltiness of the Parmesan cheese comes out beautifully in this recipe!
RECOMMENDATIONS: I personally recommend getting a large style air fryer. It prevents you from having to make recipes in batches. Also I recommend getting on that doesn’t requite preheating before you cook.
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut bread into 3/4-inch cubes.
- In large bowl add bread. Top with extra-virgin olive oil and toss.
- Next add garlic powder and basil. Toss.
- Finally add in cheese. Toss well.
- If using one tray or basket, add half the mixture. Air fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Check at 4 minutes. Repeat with second half of mixture.
- If using two trays, evenly divide bread onto both trays. Rotate at 3 minutes, then air fryer for 2-3 more minute or until golden brown.
- Serve and ENJOY!
