What is a monster cookie? It’s basically a cookie that consist of peanut butter, oats, chocolate chips and M&M’s. I took these up a notch and added chocolate to them! Such a family favorite!
Some of our favorite cookies that we love baking up, especially around the holidays are these chocolate hazelnut crinkle cookies, these cranberry white chocolate chip cookies, and these chocolate turtle cookies!
HOW TO MAKE DOUBLE CHOCOLATE MONSTER COOKIES:
INGREDIENTS:
Peanut Butter: I always use creamy but you can experiment with crunchy peanut butter!
Egg: Use this to help bind your cookies together!
Granulated Sugar: This adds some sweetness to the cookies!
M&M’s: I love how these add a fun color to the cookies. Works great with any color you’d like!
Mini Chocolate Chips: I love a good mini chocolate chip but you could use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips for this as well.
Vanilla Extract: Use a good quality pure vanilla extract any time you are baking!
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat the oven to 350 D and line the baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl mix the butter, both the sugars and vanilla extract together using an electric mixer until light and creamy. Add in the egg, peanut butter and beat till everything is mixed well.
- In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients together (flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, oats, and salt).
- Now add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in batches and mix till everything is well incorporated.
- Add the chocolate chips and M&M’s and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 30 mins.
- Once refrigerated, scoop out a portion of the dough and roll between your palms, and place them on the tray, while keeping adequate space between the cookies.
- Sprinkle some chocolate chips and stick M&Ms on the top of the cookies (optional)
- Bake for 12-15 mins. Let them cool (10 mins) and Enjoy with a glass of milk.
NOTES:
- Oats, peanut butter, and cocoa powder add a savory element to these cookies. Therefore, despite having so many sweet ingredients the sweetness doesn’t overpower the whole palate.
- You can add nuts, raisins, and/or white chocolate chips to add an extra layer of flavor.
- Use ingredients at room temperature.
- Oats add texture to these cookies and make them a bit chunky.
- These cookies are not chewy but they are a bit crunchy.
