IS IT SAFE TO EAT RAW COOKIE DOUGH?
Quick answer, no because that is what the experts tell us. We all have opinions on this and I have made these cookie dough bites without cooking the flour (I know, I know) without any problems.
Who remembers when you would stand around the mixer making a batch of classic chocolate chips cookies and swiping a little bit of the cookie dough for a taste? I do! We still do!
Over time we’ve been told not to do this due to consuming raw egg, so we switched to pasteurized eggs to make it safe. Now we hear we can’t do this because of the flour.
So how do we fix that problem? Well if you are worried to eat raw flour there is a quick method to fixing this issue. First method is by putting flour into a microwavable bowl and microwaving it on high until it’s 165 ℉, this takes about 1 minute to 1 minute and a half. Easy and quick.
The other method is to toast your flour at 350 ℉ in the oven for 5 minutes and bam, you are good to go! We have a small toaster oven that comes in hand for things just like this!
