The best way to use up fresh fruit produce is to make a healthy salad! It’s perfect for snacks, a side dish or even dessert!
I have a confession to make! I don’t eat melons. Sorry, but I just can’t! I’ve tried and tried and it’s just not my thing. This does not stop me from buying it for my hubby and kids. They love it! Another great salad I make is this creamy yogurt fruit salad!
What I love about this citrus fruit salad is because it combines the sweetness of grapes, oranges, cantaloupe with the slight tartness of grapefruit! It’s so good, you would never even notice!
HOW TO MAKE CITRUS FRUIT SALAD!
Ingredients:
- 1 pineapple
- 1 cantaloup
- 2 mangos
- 2 grapefruits
- 4 oranges
- 2 cups of grapes
- 2 cups of orange juice
Directions:
- Wash the fruits well and peel them.
- Cut the pineapple, cantaloup and mango into fairly larges cubes about 1 inch.
- Peel the citrus fruits, remove the peel and the white skin of the fruit. With a very sharp knife remove the segment by passing the blade on each side of the fruit membrane.
- Cut the grapes in half.
- Place the fruit in a bowl, add the orange juice and mix gently. Reserve in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
How long to store fruit salad?
- This fruit salad can be stored for a week in the fridge in an airtight container.
- Fruits to avoid: bananas, apples, pears, peaches, apricots, strawberries.
- Don’t cut the fruit into too small cubes: large pieces keep better.
If you are looking for more snack recipes, how about smoothies? The kids love them as well as I!
This banana caramel smoothie is so creamy and made with just 5 ingredients! This honey yogurt dip would complete this citrus fruit salad so well!
