This easy blueberry cobbler is going to be your new favorite dessert! It bakes up beautifully golden with amazing flavor! The perfect summer dessert that you don’t want to miss!
My stepbrother makes the best peach cobbler around. So this recipe is an inspiration from his recipe. I decided to go with blueberries because I had them in the freezer and I knew they were starting to show up in the grocery stores.
Using either fresh or frozen is definitely acceptable!
How to make Blueberry Cobbler?
First you want to melt your butter. The original recipe stated to melt the butter in the dish. I just did mine in the microwave. It was super simple to do it this way.
The second part is to make your crust and pour in into the butter.
To make the crust you need:
- 3/4 cup of all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup milk
- Add to small bowl. Then whisk them all together and pour over the butter.
Lastly you need to add your fruit.
For the blueberries:
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries.
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Mix together in small bowl. (please note the sugar doesn’t really mix into the blueberries, it only slightly coats them)
My daughter was totally crazy for the crust. She wants me to make cobbler without fruit. Wouldn’t that be something?
When I buy blueberries I typically make this apple blueberry galette or these blueberry creams puffs! I always need to figure out how to work in some puff pastry in my desserts!
This cobbler was so juicy and popping with blueberry flavor and not too sweet either!
Yes, you can use frozen blueberries in blueberry cobbler. Just be sure to thaw them before using and drain off any excess liquid.
Yes, you can experiment with different toppings for blueberry cobbler, such as a streusel topping made with oats and brown sugar, or a crumb topping made with nuts and butter. Just be sure to adjust the baking time and temperature accordingly.
Yes, you can make a gluten-free blueberry cobbler by using a gluten-free flour blend in place of regular flour. Be sure to check the labels of other ingredients, such as baking powder and oats, to ensure they are also gluten-free.
